1.
What if you became a proselyte For no-one as much as yourself? Believing in nothing beyond line of sight and nothing beyond your good health It sounds fairly dire, I know, until one considers the fact That we can struggle all we want to, but no part makes up for what the whole's come to lack Follow a whim, End up like him - As long as you can live with it. Damned whether you do or you don't, but all the while driven to tell What it is you can't help but see, they'll throw you to, to the lions as well Follow a whim, End up like him - As long as you're sure You can live with yourself now. Follow a whim, End up like him - As long as you're sure You can live with yourself now. (but I never asked why, though, I never asked why.)
2.
If I profess to live for truth, i'd expect that you'd ask for proof - As far as bold claims go, it's top of the list And I know you'd less likely say Whatever gets you through the day, at least i'll fool myself that you might get the gist In truth i'm scared as hell Of things i'd rather never tell For fear that speaking them aloud Could bring them true At least at last I see, It's not based in reality and there's so much difference between precedence and you Whether by fortune or foresight We've ended up here together Don't waste your time telling me you're sure you're right That nothing lasts forever - That doesn't leave us anywhere. You wave goodbye and exit scene, And I think how naive i've been To try and boil this down To some structured state As methods go, I know it's poor - You'd think that i'd have learned before, To stop and hold my breath, To make myself wait. Whether by fortune or foresight We've ended up here together Don't waste your time telling me you're sure you're right That nothing lasts forever - That doesn't lead us anywhere, and "it's just fine", Well what has "fine" ever meant, When every line's heaven-sent, You say "it's nothing now" Well all the best...
3.
State my motivation, and feed me my lines, I was born to play this part; to stand for all it undermines. I've learned method acting - If nothing besides - From the faces in the glare And all that each one derides. But I was looking for a way to be sure, Looking for my way out, Could the forces guiding me have been that pure? I was so certain, 'til you gave me cause to doubt. The words on the tongue Of the town are aimed at me They said "you're here because of what you want - What else could it be?" But i've learned far too well From my time "underground" To say "You know too well what captured me, What kept me around" But I refuse to see my time here as being a mistake It's like theatre, people have fun Even when they know it's fake.
4.
Pace back and forth Through your childhood years Take great leaps without faith at all As whatever matters disappears, And it's unlike you To notice as it goes. So set in your ways In a way no-one knows But you could always come back, Come back, Like all was forgiven. Pay no regard to Whatever you've lost The heart you've abandoned And the miles you've crossed If you're so certain That you're in the right Then I couldn't explain Why you seem so contrite. But if you're willing, You could come back Come back All is forgiven (if you can let it be) Outrun, Outrun Outrun, Outrun Outrun, yourself - If you're sure that you've got the strength Outrun, Outrun, If you think you're fast enough If you think you're fast enough

about

This recording was financed independently by us, the band. In keeping with our ethos, you may download it for whatever price you wish - including for free. Put simply, we just want for people to hear what we're doing, in spite of this pay-what-you-want approach being extremely difficult for little bands like ours to sustain. We only hope that you'll contribute what you can, and will share it with others if you like what we've made.

Love,
